Week 14 FYP1

Week 14
Date: 16– 20/12/2013 (Monday to Friday)
Title: Submission of the Project Proposal

Basically nothing much in this week. The Project Proposal was submitted to Dr Sabry. After the submission, I continued on how to develop my system. From all the research I’ve made, I was trying to create the system. This log book will be continued on the next semester and it will be about my developing of the system.

The conclusion that I can made throughout the process of FYP 1 :

Barcodes are widely used for data acquisition and most of it are used to track items. The most common barcodes that are use are the UPC barcode and the QR barcode. Basically the UPC barcode is the normal barcode that printed out in any products and QR barcode is the ‘pattern’ barcode that normally can be seen to direct the user to the product’s website. To create and develop a system, the project must go through research about the barcodes and methods that can be used to develop a system. In this semester, the project will focus on research and study on how to develop the system.

The system will basically focusing on personal usage (home/office) instead of commercial usage (the normal barcode inventory system that is use in the stores). This system will be a combination of hardware (barcode scanner), software ( the system) and Android application. This system will benefit the users by helping in inventory and money management. The developing of system prototype will be carried out in the next semester by following the methods that have been research throughout this semester.

Special THANKS to Dr Sabry for helping me throughout the process!
